Search Engine friendly is not a Search Engine Optimized

When we create development work for Prospective clients we are generally ask develop a website that is a Search Engine Optimized .That things bring me into a long-winded explanation on how developing a website to be search engine friendly is not the same thing as optimizing that website for search performance.
The SEO provider or consultant should be involved in the website development process, though those two roles are completely different. The developer designs and creates the front and back end of the website. A good developer can do that job well, but mostly they do it to function for the user, not perform for the search engines. The SEO should be involved to ensure that what the developer produces is as search engine friendly as possible.

Most web design and development companies don't know the first thing about SEO or creating SE friendly websites. And most who claim to are liars. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. Design/Developments are two completely different things but they are closely related to Search Engine Optimized.

The process of SEO requires hours of additional research and a skill set that usually is not included as a part of the site development contract. There are a few development firms that also specialize in SEO and Marketing and these firms can develop and engage in long-term optimization services. But be aware that any short-term website development contract that claims to include SEO simply will not provide adequate or successful SEO marketing results.

Power Searching For Anyone to your site

Hi, Guys ,did you know how visiter searching your site.
Search engines have a variety of ways for you to refine and control your searches. Some of them offer menu systems for this. Others require you to use special commands as part of your query.

For most people, the basic commands covered on the Search Engine Math page will be sufficient. I encourage you to read the search engine math page first. Get comfortable using the commands that are described. If you need more power after that, then review the other options on this page.

The search engine features chart below is designed primarily for users of search engines. It summarizes key search commands and search assistance features. These are described more fully on the Search Engine Math, Power Searching For Anyone and Search Assistance Features pages. You may also find information on the Search Engine Features For Webmasters page to be of interest. See the Major Search Engines page for links to the services listed below.
By default, AOL Search will look for any sites in its Open Directory information that contain all the words you enter. It will check both the words in the Open Directory listing and the words on the page that the listing leads to.

AOL Search will not check for matches in its Inktomi listings UNLESS there are absolutely no Open Directory listings that match all words. However, if you use AOL Search's advanced search page (see the Search Assistance page) and choose the "On the Web Only" option, then your search will be conducted against only Inktomi's listings.

New News of Google Analytics

Google Analytics previous version will no longer be available July 18th. I found out about this news when I logged in to my account after a 4 day break from work. We went to Camarines Sur this weekend BTW.

Regarding Google Analytics new version, so if you’re still not familiar with the new interface, its time for you to familiarize it. Personally, I really don’t like the new interface because I need to explore again the new version of Google Analytics. Time is really precious to me thats why I’m bothered with these changes. But I must say the new version is much more user friendly. Webmaster with little technical knowledge can easily understand the new version compared to the previous interface

20 Tips for More Efficient Google Searches

20 Tips for More Efficient Google Searches
For millions of people, Google is an indispensable search tool that they use every day, in all facets of their lives. From work or school, research, to looking up movies and celebrities to news and gossip, Google is the go-to search engine.

Some of these are obvious ones, that you probably know about. But others are lesser-known, and others are known but not often used. Use this guide to learn more about, or be reminded of, some of the best ways to get exactly what you're looking for, and quickly.

Google gives Few tips to Making Search is ,These are

1. Either/or. Google normally searches for pages that contain all the words you type in the search box, but if you want pages that have one term or another (or both), use the OR operator -- or use the "|" symbol (pipe symbol) to save you a keystroke. [dumb | little | man]

2. Quotes. If you want to search for an exact phrase, use quotes. ["dumb little man"] will only find that exact phrase. [dumb "little man"] will find pages that contain the word dumb and the exact phrase "little man".

3. Not. If you don't want a term or phrase, use the "-" symbol. [-dumb little man] will return pages that contain "little" and "man" but that don't contain "dumb".

4. Similar terms. Use the "~" symbol to return similar terms. [~dumb little man -dumb] will get you pages that contain "funny little man" and "stupid little man" but not "dumb little man".

5. Wildcard. The "*" symbol is a wildcard. This is useful if you're trying to find the lyrics to a song, but can't remember the exact lyrics. [can't * me love lyrics] will return the Beatles song you're looking for. It's also useful for finding stuff only in certain domains, such as
educational information: ["dumb little man" research *.edu].

6. Advanced search. If you can't remember any of these operators, you can always use Google's advanced search.

7. Definitions. Use the "define:" operator to get a quick definition. [define:dumb] will give you a whole host of definitions from different sources, with links.

8. Calculator. One of the handiest uses of Google, type in a quick calculation in the search box and get an answer. It's faster than calling up your computer's calculator in most cases. Use the +, -, *, / symbols and parentheses to do a simple equation.

9. Numrange. This little-known feature searches for a range of numbers. For example, ["best books 2002..2007] will return lists of best books for each of the years from 2002 to 2007 (note the two periods between the two numbers).

10. Site-specific. Use the "site:" operator to search only within a certain website. [site:dumblittleman.com leo] will search for the term "leo" only within this blog.

11. Backlinks. The "link:" operator will find pages that link to a specific URL. You can use this not only for a main URL but even to a specific page. Not all links to an URL are listed, however.

12. Vertical search. Instead of searching for a term across all pages on the web, search within a specialized field. Google has a number of specific searches, allowing you to search within blogs, news, books, and much more:

o Blog Search

o Book Search

o Scholar

o Catalogs

o Code Search

o Directory

o Finance

o Images

o Local/Maps

o News

o Patent Search

o Product Search

o Video

13. Movies. Use the "movie:" operator to search for a movie title along with either a zip code or U.S. city and state to get a list of movie theaters in the area and show times.

14. Music. The "music:" operator returns content related to music only.

15. Unit converter. Use Google for a quick conversion, from yards to meters for example, or different currency: [12 meters in yards]

16. Types of numbers: Google algorithms can recognize patterns in numbers you enter, so you can search for:

o Telephone area codes

o Vehicle ID number (US only)

o Federal Communications Commission (FCC) equipment numbers (US only)

o UPC codes

o Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airplane registration number (US only)

o Patent numbers (US only)

o Even stock quotes (using the stock symbol) or a weather forecast regarding the next five days

17. File types. If you just want to search for .PDF files, or Word documents, or Excel spreadsheets, for example, use the "filetype:" operator.

18. Location of term. By default, Google searches for your term throughout a web page. But if you just want it to search certain locations, you can use operators such as "inurl:", "intitle:", "intext:", and "inanchor:". Those search for a term only within the URL, the title,
the body text, and the anchor text (the text used to describe a link).

19. Cached pages. Looking for a version of a page the Google stores on its own servers? This can help with outdated or update pages. Use the "cached:" operator.

20. Answer to life, the universe, and everything. Search for that phrase, in lower case, and Google will give you the answer.

What’s Wrong With Social Media For B2B Marketing

While interviewing with Fabrice Florin of NewTrust for newassignment.net, I asked him the following question:

Why does socially driven media fail to regulate inaccuracy and bias? If we are to believe in the wisdom of the crowds, than a site like digg, with its army of 600,000 users, should be able to create a truly wise community which would only promote the best content, no?

He answered me as

aving myself encountered both these problems, and having written about inaccuracy and bias in social meda, I wanted to get his opinion on these problems and allow him to present a potential solution.

Although Fabrice was perhaps a little too brutal, he had the following to say:

There is one simple reason. Digg has no discipline! It has no code of ethics, or a very minor code of ethics, to flag a story that appears to be inaccurate. But they don’t have discipline. They only ask one question. “Do you like this story?”

What ends up happening is that Digg becomes a measure of popularity rather than quality. And of course popularity is an important metric to be used when judging journalism, but it is one many things that should be taken into account.

Digg is a game. It is entertainment, where people go in, and part of the game is to put in things that you like and hope that they make it to the top, and then your name gets associated with it. I have been in the industry for a while, and I can recognize a game when I see one. Digg has everything, it has the scoring (ranking) and the fun payoffs. It is first and foremost an entertainment experience.

However, Florin also recognizes the importance of Digg. Although it may seem like it is just an entertainment experience, it serves other purposes as well.

As a secondary outcome, it provides a valuable service. Because 1) it gets citizens engaged, and 2) it does provide a filter, based on popularity. And popularity does have some value. It is one of the data points that you can look at. But it is not sufficient by itself. Popularity is not the same as quality, and by measuring popularity, you are someways deceiving the public, by giving the impression that those are good quality pieces. But they are not, they are just popular pieces. There is a big difference.

NewsTrust tries to differentiate itself with a focus on quality rather than popularity. They do ask the readers if they would recommend a story, but at the same time they also ask 11 other questions when judging the merits of an article.

What we try to do is focus on quality. We help you, as a reader, go beyond your gut instinct. We actually help you look at the story on its own merits.

NewsTrust helps you get past that gut reaction. I don’t care wether you agree or disagree with Bush policies. We are only interested in knowing if it is good journalism or not. And the way to do this is to look at the methodology:

1. Is this report presenting opinions as facts?
2. Are they presenting a balanced viewpoint?
3. Do they give you the context?

And by asking you a few extra questions, we take you beyond your initial reactions and beliefs, and into the realm where you are actually analyzing the story based on its own merits.

However, he doesn’t think that Digg is completely useless.

Every morning, we go to Digg, and we go to delicious, and we pluck all the gems that are floating amongst the questionable material. There is actually only 5%-10% of the material that has a chance of getting a good rating on our site. And we pluck these pieces and move them to our site. And then we submit them to a more rigorous quality review.

As parting advice, Fabrice mentioned that he doesn’t think that it is a zero-sum game. The readers don’t have to choose between NewTrust, or social media sites such as Digg, Netscape, Reddit. His recommendation to socially driven news and content websites is to go beyond just using popularity as the metric.

He is careful to make a distinction between the wisdom that can be gotten from an intelligent and disciplined crowd, and the popularity-based content promotion we get on social media sites from an indisciplined mob.

Please, we will show you how to do it. If they want to use NewsTrust on Digg, we will work with them. It’s not us versus them. There is value in the mob, but the mob needs to have principles. They need to be disciplined before they can really lead to intelligent choices.

Update 1, December 15, 2006 at 4:47 pm

Fabrice pointed out several important differences between socially driven news and content sites such as Digg and his current project, NewsTrust:

HOW IS NEWSTRUST DIFFERENT FROM DIGG?

A number of folks have asked us how we are different from first-generation social networks like Digg and Del.icio.us.

Here are some key differences between our sites:
* we rate journalistic quality, not just popularity
* we track ratings for each publication in our source reputation database
* stories from our most trusted publication are featured in our daily picks
* our review forms with multiple ratings are more accurate than single-rating systems in assessing content quality
* our research shows that citizens using our review forms can evaluate the quality of news stories reliably - and as effectively as professionals

To discourage gaming, we offer these preventive measures:
* reviewers are identified by their real names, not pseudonyms
* we rate our reviewers, and their ratings are weighed based on member level
* member levels are based on activity, experience, ratings and transparency
* reviewers are rewarded for disclosing political viewpoints
* your ratings count more if you have a higher member level

Check our research on the reliability of our review tools:

MetaTags in Search Engine Optimization

When people refer to meta tags, they are thinking about the meta description and meta keyword tags. Some search engines may display the meta description as part of the search results, but the meta keywords tags generally does not appear in search results.
What do the Meta Tags Look Like?
"keywords" content="seo ebook, seo e-book, seo
tutorial, seo tutorial book, search engine optimisation,
search engine optimisation tutorial
Description" CONTENT="Search Engine Optimization
Book is a SEO blog which provides daily search engine news.
SEO Book keeps up with the latest trends in search engine
algorithm changes and provides new SEO tips.

The meta keywords tag is not supported by many major search engines. While it is important to choose the correct keywords for your page, the meta keywords tag itself is not used by many top SEO experts.

Mike Grehan interviewed Jon Glick (of Yahoo! Search) and asked him about the meta keyword tag. Jon stated that the meta keyword tag is used to include a page among a subset of search results, but is not used in determining the relevancy of that page for the given search term.

If a word does not exist on a page and is not in any of its inbound linkage data then search engines such as Yahoo! may not know to include the page in search results unless it exists in the keyword tag. I usually do not use the meta keywords tag on my pages (as it is not usually very important), but it can help you out some if there are many different ways to say your product names.

If you use the meta keywords tag, it should be unique for each page you place it on. The keywords tag is a good place to put common misspellings, synonyms, and alternate versions of a word.

Sample Uses of the Meta Keywords Tag:

• If you optimized a page for the keyword phrase "drop shipping" you may
want to include the word "dropshipping" in your keywords tag, although if
the term is that competitive keyword tags are not likely to matter.

• Notice how in my above example meta keyword tag, I spelled the word optimization with an s. I targeted the phrase with a z and am placing sversions in my keywords tag. The term is likely going to be too competitive to compete for using just a meta tag, but most phrases are not going to be as competitive as search engine optimisation.
• Some items are model 15-M or 15M or Cannon 15-M or Cannon 15M.
• Prescription is often mistyped as perscription.
If a term is competitive it is going to need to occur in your page copy and / or inbound link text for you to rank well for it.

Meta Description Tag:
The meta description tag has varying levels of relevancy in different search engines. Many search engines still support it and display it in their search results in the page snippets. I suggest trying to get multiple versions of your main keywords, and your
main keywords themselves in this tag a few times.

This tag should be between a sentence to a paragraph and not visually appear keyword stuffed. The sentences should read well to the human eye since this tag is still used in many search results pages. If you write a compelling description it could boost your click through rates, and thus deliver you more targeted traffic.

Many search engines will use the meta description as part of the page abstract if the exact search term that was searched for is found in the meta description tag. Additionally it sometimes appears in search results if the search engine can not extract meaningful content from the page copy or if the algorithm feels the meta description will provide a more useful presentation.

Some people fail to realize that a good page title and description within the search results could mean that a number two or three listing gets more traffic than a number one listing. The meta description tag can often be used to help craft a good
search presentation for your most popular phrases.

Meta Tags Are Not Art:
Some people try and make meta tags sound like an art form. They are not. There are multiple tags which tell a search engine when to revisit or what language it is in.These tags are usually irrelevant and ignored.

S E O B O O K
The only useful meta tags other than the description and keywords tags are those tags used to PREVENT search engines from indexing your content. Since we usually want our content seen, I have spoke of the only tags I typically use.

The Truth about Meta Tags:

Meta tags are only one small part of search engine algorithms. In major search engines each of the following is typically far more important than meta tags.

• Link Popularity & Link Reputation

• Page Title

• Page Copy
